In work you need to make sure that everything around you is safe. It is important for everything in the work place to be safe because one minor thing could turn in to one serious thing. You have to make sure that if you are on computers that all wires are tucked in as someone could trip and injure themselves, also you need to keep water/liquids away from electrical appliances. If you are lifting heavy objects you need to make sure that you are lifting them correctly as if you don't it could result in an injury. Also you also need to take note of wet floor signs and make sure that wet floor signs are visible as someone could slip and this could cause an injury.
If an accident occurs you must know where everything is situated in your workplace. You must make sure that you know where the nearest fire extinguisher is. You must make sure that sockets aren't overloaded so that a fire or electrical fault doesnt break out. You must make sure that shelfs aren't overloaded with stuff as they could fall off and hurt someone. You also need to make sure that you know where the first aid kit is situated in your workplace incase you need it in an immediate accident.
At work you are entitled to 20 minutes break for every six hours that you work in that day, you can not take your break at the beginning/ end of the day it has to be in between. A worker is entitled to an 11 hour daily rest during any 24 hour period. This means that when you have finished work you must have at least 11 hours to yourself. An adult worker is entitled to 1 day off a week and this can be averaged over two weeks. If a young worker is working for more than four and a half hours then they are entitled to a 30 minute break. Young workers are also entitled to 2 days off each week and this cannot be avereged over two weeks.
